Replaced my "bad sector" SSD with a new one. Cloning went well but noticed that the Bios settings would not show the new boot SSD (I had plugged it into a new SATA cable and power.

I then unplugged the old SSD and put the new one in its place with the old SSD cables. On restart, the new drive was recognised and the pc booted. Strange behaviour which, if someone can, throw some light on please.

So using new cables and new port the new ssd was not working but using the old cable and port from the replaced ssd was ok?

Maybe the port was disabled in the bios or it was a duff stata cable.

I temporarily took the cables out of the DVD writer and connected the new drive into it. At the time I could see both the SSDs but could not boot from the new one then until I tried above.
