Hi first time in years since i have had to set up a new ssd drive (crucial mx500 1Tb) not an OS drive, so do we still set up over provisioning on drives as the recommended amount on this drive is just over 93 Gb or 10%, so asking the question here ?
Thanks

Over provisioning isn't limited to Samsung drives (why would it be?). Magician just provides an easy way to configure it.

You can do exactly the same by not partitioning part of the drive.

Sorry it’s in the crucial desktop software and asks if you want it enabled, so thought to ask here before I do anything.

Either avoid filling the drive or deliberately over provision.
I don't really get the point of over provisioning, just don't fill it to the max and it achieves the same thing.
If you're deliberately never going to use the space you may as well over provision in the first place. If you don't over provision you need to do a bit of mental arithmetic every time you look at the free space shown by Windows.

To answer the OP I would over provision. It can do no harm and can easily be reversed at a later date if you decide to.

Should i do that to my Samsung SSD?
I just plugged and played it (it's my system drive).

I don't let it get full as I have enough secondary storage drives.

Thanks

Turn on the over-provisioning and set it at what the manufacturer recommends.
Personally I'd go a bit higher than 10%,maybe 15% or more, what will the drive be used for?
