Looks like things have moved on in the last few years and I'm out of space. I'm after a new SSD in approx. 500GB size. I see there are a number of new types m2 and nvme which I am guessing won't work with my P67 motherboard as is. Is there much advantage to these newer toes of SSD and is it possible to connect them to my older motherboard via an adapter or something similar?

I'd just get an 850 evo, I'd only buy an m.2 drive if my motherboard fully supported it.

If you NEED the speed, buy a new motherboard ram and CPU too.

For reference, I have a p67 and recently bought an 850 evo

I think you're right. Looking at the price per GB graph for SSDs I think it could be around £100/500GB by Christmas. BTW thanks :)

I'm looking to update my Samsung 830 Series 256GB with 56GB free and having recently had to uninstall a game to install GTA-V, I've decided enough was enough and I'd get a 400GB+ one to clone over to.

Having had a logn hard look at various options I decided against the Samsung 840 and 850 range based on things I've read about the performance issues and potential data loss due to a Trim bug.

I've noted the Intel SSD 730 480GB is at a good price and that would fit the bill nicely while providing a nice performance advantage over my old Samsung too. Ultimately I want reliability as well as performance, and Intel appear to have always been top in that regard though i find it strange how OcUK don't have any Intel SSDs in that capacity range?
