New SSD Help

Just got my first SSD Samsung 860 Evo 500GB.
In the Samsung Magician software recommends to set over provisioning to 10% = 46.58GB
Not sure what this does had a look on google but some say leave as is and others say set it at 10%.
Hope you clever guys can help this OAP out

I've set mine at 20% but that's me.

It means the drive will keep a percentage of free space and that will mean it wears out much more slowly.

Well worth doing.

Do you have to do anything for overprovisioning besides leaving space unformatted?

I just used the Samsung software it recommended to set a 10% so that's all I did.
