Hi all,

In a few days my new OCZ Vertex 2 100gb drive will be coming and I have a few questions.

I have read this: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18262885

which was very useful and handy however it doesn't answer all my queries.

I would like to know how I can keep my itunes library intact (playcount etc), as I have over 80gb of music it will have to be on a separate drive along with the rest of my user profile which is currently located at: C:\Users\Tom.

So for the install I plan on using my SSD as C:\ and using it for programs and OS and then I will be using another normal drive named as D:\ for my data - in theory my user account.

so because all my user data will be on another drive will I be able to move my itunes library without losing the info??

Also is all of this possible and does it make sense? As I think I'm slightly confused myself.

Cheers, Tom

In iTunes: Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Then change your media folder location to where you moved it to. If you move the complete iTunes folder then all the data that contains play count etc will remain.

Are you sure? Just because I was thinking about it and in the iTunes library xml it says the location of the music (currently C:\Users\Tom\Music) which will not be there anymore, therefore it will load up the old xml file which will still look for the music on the C:\ drive instead of D:\

Am I making sense?

In iTunes: Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Then change your media folder location to where you moved it to. If you move the complete iTunes folder then all the data that contains play count etc will remain.

This. I moved my library to an external drive as it's huge (and makes re-installs easier) and all my metadata stays intact.

iTunes will update the XML file. If you're worried take a backup.
