New SSD not being detected

As title, just bought a Samsung evo 850 500gb from here, it shows up in the bios but I can't see it in windows. I've tried different SATA ports and cables, reconnected the sata and power cables multiple times and rebooted multiple times, still nothing.

Any ideas? Could the drive be faulty??

Check computer management and ensure the disk as partition on it as it shouldn't ship with one.

Thanks! And how would I do that exactly? Sorry, not very good at these things.

Also just to add, I've already got an SSD with the OS already installed and set up. This second one I've added as I've run out of space. If that makes a difference....

Control panel -> admin tools -> computer management -> disk management

Thanks. But I can't see admin tools anywhere in control panel. I'm using windows 10 if that makes a difference?

right click start and do control panel from there not settings

Hahaha. Thank you, that was easy. Swear I never had to do that before when adding a hard drive.

You have to do this with every new internal drive, unless you've put windows on it first.
