Just installed my new SSD and im not getting the speeds i should. I am wondering if someone can help, since i am new to the SSD scene.

Also does anyone have any tips ? do's and dont's ? do i really need to make sure auto defrag is off ?

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Cheers

It should be

Sequential Read: 540Mbps
Sequential Write: 520Mbps

Also should i enable RAPID mode ?

I dunno, looks close enough for me.

Yea you do want defrag off, as SSD's have a shorter lifespan than HDD's when it comes to excessive "write" usage. (And defrag basically moves a load of your stuff around, lots of reading/writing etc.)

Also don't run that benchmark too much, cos 5x 1GB of writing is not really ideal (if done lots of times) and will wear out your drive quicker..! Set it to 3x 100MB or something.

I normally find that your never going to get 100% of the r/w speeds listed on hdd/ssd products, more similar to broadband estimates in that 'this is what you CAN get if the situation is perfect'.

I think getting close to 95% on any system not setup to specifically bench SSD's is pretty good and I would not worry about them.

Raid is if your going to raid 2 x Samsung evos, ACHI should be enabled if using one.

the speeds don't seem too far off as the ones you quoted are the max speeds of the drive.

unless your moving around large files to another SSD you wouldn't notice the difference on the 30mb your missing off the read and write speeds.

I have the same drive connected to a sata 2 port and only get 270mb read and write

the speeds seem ok

other things I do on my SSD is disable system restore as I have nothing on my OS SSD i cant re download if i need a OS re install and change the virtual memory

He said RAPID not RAID.

I didn't notice any difference with it turned it on.

it uses about 12% of your free ram to boost the speed of your SSD. the Pro version uses 25% of your free ram in Rapid mode.

Most people will not see the speed difference unless you were monitoring it.
