So I grabbed some decent SSD's from the Amazon Jungle (rules) for a cracking price along with a RAID controller. I have 3x256GB SSD's on the way (+1 I already have) which I plan to run my OS and most of my steam Library from which will be imaged weekly to a HDD for redundancy.

Anyone got tips on the optimal RAID configs I should be looking at, stripe size etc.

Hardware being used is as follows:

- StarTech.com 4 Port PCI Express 2.0 SATA III 6Gbps RAID Controller Card with HyperDuo SSD Tiering

- 3x Crucial CT240M500SSD1 2.5-inch 240GB M500 SATA 6Gb/s Internal Solid State Drive

- 1x Samsung 830 256GB (my current OS drive).

Raid on 3 or all 4?

Do you want a full image of the system or are you just looking to backup the data (games in your steam library) so you don't have to re-download them.

With the data you mentioned a default of 128Kb stripe size should be fine. Games files, maps, textures etc will normally be larger anyway.
