New SSD Required for Gaming PC 500GB or 1TB

Hi,
I'm wondering what SSD capacity to get for a boot drive which can store a few games. 1TB is quite expensive and wondering if it's worth the premium. I also have a 3TB WD Black mechanical drive.

Buy a 250-500GB for OS and 2-3 of your most played games (or 4-5 on a 500GB Drive) then use your mechanical for everything else.

One of these is only £100! I paid £155 for a 250GB model three years ago!

Woo, nice to see some decent SSD prices. I think you're right, 500GB should be ample, and the mechanical hard drive is fine for playing most modern games.

Yeah that's how I do it, got a 240Gb for O/S and a 2Tb WD Green for my games.

Doesn't make sense paying the prices for 1Tb+ SSDs when they aren't really needed

Yeah, it seems quite expensive for the jump to 1TB, I'll stick with 500GB and put the extra money towards a new cooler!

500GB should be plenty for the amount of games people reasonably play at one time. Plus some games just don't benefit from SSDs for whatever reason.
These are the two I would choose between. You almost certainly won't notice the performance difference but you might benefit from the longer warranty on the sammy drive (that being said both my Samsung 830 drives are over 5 years old without hitch)

I went for 500 gb last year, honestly 1tb would have been the better option for me. Game sizes are huge now.

Definitely go for at least 1TB nowadays if you need to install games.
