New SSD

I have windows 8 installed on my HDD, I downloaded the update and passed on my windows 7 disks as I didn't need them anymore. How do I go about installing my OS on a new SSD? Do I need a disc to install onto it first?

Cheers, but do I need a licence too? That went with the disks and I am unable to use it anymore.

yeah youll need your original serial,and the upgrade serial if it came with one

should be on the pc's case printed on a sticker,if not i have no idea on how youd find it

Well I built my system so the serial came with the win7 disks I bought which are now unavailable.

Anyone know if I can somehow just transfer my HDD data to my SSD? Might just have to try and get a copy of XP/Vista for cheap if not.
