NEW STEAM DEALS!!!!

Steam should update it automatically, usually on the next login.

There is patches for Mass Effect, because i had to download 2 patches for my retail version of the game, so Steam should have them.

The PC options menu is a bit shonky it has to be said. You probably haven't spotted it but there is a light blue scroll bar on the right hand side, scroll down and you will find 1920x1200. I know because I had the same problem when I bought it a few months ago :D

This too, just reminded me about that.

Nah i am 100% sure it didn't have it, i was clicking everywhere :p but anyway here's a fix for anyone who has this issue because i know a lot would have bought this but i went to: Steam\steamapps\common\mass effect\Binaries

Inside there you should find MassEffectConfig.exe file which you just run and select the resolutions there.

Anyone else intrigued to hear how well steam are doing out of these sales? Would be interesting to see the sales figures.

Me too, at least I hope it gets mainstream press coverage about the joys of digital distribution and impulsive buying. Been buying quite a few here.

Mass Effect today. Crysis - the drm really put me off buying it. I was waiting for it on steam, my hardware was finally capable and ready. Passed on some good dvd box deals hoping that steam version would be drm free! Oh well, maybe somepoint at under a fiver for the pack I won't mind the drm lol.

Have I misunderstood this? or does the Steam version of Mass Effect come SecuRom free?

IIRC you'll have the same DRM with Crysis Warhead (which you can recover activations from anyway) as you do in Mass Effect, Steam or no Steam. So, there's no reason to get one but not the other..(except that crysis and crysis warhead arent on an awesome deal :D)

Grr trying to download my crysis but only getting about 50kb/s from UK and 57kb/s from France, not much better from Norway... I'm wanting to leave this on and hopefully have it downloaded by tomorrow afternoon, but at these speeds that's not likely

anyone getting better speeds from any other countries?

Just tried again actually, and won't even connect to the UK server :(

I went by looking at the game page, if you see crysis:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/17300/

on the right hand side it mentions 3rd party drm. On the Mass Effect page it doesnt't.

The Steam version of Mass Effect doesn't have SecuRom. Other versions do however.

This is Steams reply to my purchasing lock:

"Thank you for contacting Steam Support. I have removed the lock on your account; you will be able to make one more purchase. Your account is currently on an alert status due to the excessive failed purchase attempts. Any unsuccessful purchase attempts will cause your account to be locked again. Your account will automatically be removed from the alert list after a while, each time you make a new purchase it will extend the alert period."

What the hell? I never input any false data!!!!!!!!! Anyway what the **** does that even mean? I can only buy one more thing before it gets locked again anyway????

Ireland to not have any servers, they automatically connect to the fastest one available.

hmmm... Ireland was even worse  I managed to connect to UK again, so I suppose I'll just stick with that and hope it gets faster later on :( must be all the sales, usually steam is much faster for me :(

Bum deal.

But it sounds like you can make one more purchase.
If that fails, youll be locked again.

If it succeds, though, you'll be able to buy something else. And the more successful purchases you make without failing any, the more leeway the system will give you when you do eventually have a failure or two.

Gad sake,

Im trying to resist the Steam deals as I've bought far to many games, but how am I meant to resist Mass Effect at £3.25!

lol

I've just started playing it, gfx is amazing, gameplay seems good and i can already tell it will be a very nice game.(my friend said it has one of the best stories of a pc game.)

Think of it like this, a top notch pc game being cheaper than a meal at burger king.:D
