I'm going to be getting a new NVME M.2 2TB Drive but not sure which one would be best it's going to be for my games drive (install only games on it) I currently have a 1tb laxar nm790 but I need more storage and want 2tb I have a list of drives that I have looked at so far (yes there is a fair few) but dunno what would be best for my usage I want it to be quite fast loading up games or at least just as fast as current drive or better.

WD Black SN7100

Kioxia Exceria Plus G4

Kioxia Exceria Pro

TeamGroup MP44

Lexar NM790

Samsung 990 EVO Plus

Samsung 990 Pro

Crucial P310

WD Black SN770

Kioxia Exceria G3 Plus

WD SN850X

Crucial P3 Plus

Kingston NV3

I have a Crucial T710 4TB drive and its good. Probably out of your price range. I'm always one of the first to load the next track on F1 25 compared to others on PS5, Xbox and the like.

Ah didn't notice that one but how do you know what my budget is lol
because the T710 is a high-end gen 5 drive lol
none of the ones you listed are high-end gen 5 drives
the T710 4tb currently going in excess of £700 iirc

you don't need a fast drive for a games drive
if you want a drive as fast as a nm790 then you can discount at least half your list already

Ah fair enough which one would be a good enough do you think

honestly, if it's "just" for a games drive, any will be fine. even the QLC ones, though i would tend to avoid them and get a TLC drive if possible
in this current period though, with all the pricing shennanigans...i'd just say to get the cheapest one you can get your hands on tbh

I just built a system based upon the Kioxia Exceria Plus G4 2TB, all I can say is it works and windows feels snappy enough :P Happy to run any tests you might want!

Yeah the pricing is insane for pc parts these days

I have an WD SN850X 8tb as a games drive and it’s been excellent, super quick.

Wish I’d bought a few more when it was £500 but who expected this pricing mess urgh

Yeah its £494.99 now where I got mine from. Only £175 more expensive.
Still a big jump though

If only we knew lol . Yeah I looked at that drive as well
If you have a gen 5 capability but are backwards compatible then the Kioxia Exceria G3 2tb 5.0 NVMe can be had for £205.
The slot it's going into will be pcie 4.0 I have one 5.0 slot on my board (Asus TUF b850 Plus WiFi) and that has my c drive in it with from what I remember was a t500 crucial 1tb I think.
Yeah I seen it at that price does seem a steal tbh but not sure

I tend to favour endurance over outright performance since I'd like a drive to last a long time. Iv got a fair number of enterprise drives for this reason.

That's also worth noting then wasn't something I thought about as presumed a games drive at them prices and specs would be quite good for skating anyway but I checked the NM790 and the kioxia ones have high endurance 1,400 TBW
