I have 2x1tb drives and both getting a bit full so am considering getting a 2tb drive and replacing one of the 1tb drives.

Not sure if I should go for the WD Black or the 7k3000 both seem good but theres around £30 price diffence between them.
I have a habit of sticking to WD drives as they have always been really good so I am leaning towards that a little.

all about the same between WD samsung and Hitachi at the moment afaik. Just go with what you like for price/performance/brand loyalty. I dislike WD so dont touch them, except for one external drive, which has literally vanished from my house which imo is worse than just breaking :(

Other than a couple of IDE seagates in my 4th PC which is jsut a download bot, I only have Samsung drives, and one Hitachi, the Hitachi had a problem and tried to kill itself, then recovered after a format that took like 4 hours. Thought I had a problem with one of my F1 drives, but turned out it was a problem with the sata port, but it still got replaced by samsung (took a couple of weeks though)

my 5 F4's are faster than my F1's in RAID 5, by quite a margin (100mbps read/write iirc) so they are pretty nippy with there higher platter density
