Hi all

I am going on holiday in a couple of weeks and am looking for a more comfortable strap for my camera than the stock Canon one that came in the box. The stock one seems to rub quite heavily when used for long periods of time.

Does anyone have one they would recommend?

Loving my peak designs cuff and leash, it's thinner than the canon but felt fine on a 4 hour walk a few weekends ago, also folds down smaller than the canon

Well thanks everyone for the advice, but after some searching on this forum and some recommendations on talk photography I went for the quick strap...

Will update this thread when it arrives but it seems to be a decent copy of the black rapid system

:)

Love it, both lasting very well. Had them 2 years now and so comfy, discrete and folds up to a much smaller space than almost all other straps.

They're awesome and I recently got a second one for the other body.

Did take ages before I realised the little soft tag thing was supposed to be for cleaning the LCD screen though :D

I like the look of the leash but I'm not convinced by the clip and it would be so much better if it wasn't that thin for the whole strap. I wish it had a wider band of just a couple of feet near the shoulder area.

I also bought one of those fabric straps that Raymond recommended which come from China or Korea, can't remember which it was.

Far more comfortable and thicker than the standard Canon straps and don't stick out like a sore thumb and advertise the model of camera.

I also have a Black Rapid RS7, which is great, but I find it's more of a 'when its required' kind of a strap. It's great for carrying a camera when you have a large lens on, or are shooting something more professionally or are in a situation where it just makes sense. Overall though, it screams "Photographer", which is why I prefer the simple brown fabric strap, it compliments the camera well and looks a bit more classy. Especially if you are using the camera for street shooting, or anywhere a bit posher such as attending a wedding or event (not in a professional capacity).

Hope you have better luck than me I've had two fail on me the last one less than 7 days into ownership! Fortunately no damage was done but it was pure luck obviously I won't be touching said product again. The guy that sells them was at least very reasonable offering a full refund.

Been using mine for over 12 months now on an almost daily basis with no problems.

The clip has a very positive click that holds the anchor together (it needs to be pushed down to come off) and the anchor is made of Kevlar. Don't let that stop you.

I was also dubious about comfort but needed something small as I carry my DSLR around in a crumpler quick escape bag (which I just noticed has been reduced 50% on the forrest grrrrr! I recommend that too!) and the stock Canon strap just about fit. The leash has a much smaller volume.

I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it is, it's very soft material and glides really nice into action and back into neutral balance. Just been on another walk today and you just forget it is there.

Does the strap you are talking about have some kind of clip to hold in it then?

On my RS7, where there is the typical buckle like you would find on a rucksack, I put a zip tie through it. This stops it accidentally coming undone and somebody else undoing it, or attempting to take it from you while wearing it.

Peak's straps are immense. Had mine a day and you can feel the toughness throughout. It's rated to 45KG of weight so plenty of give and nothing is going to accidentally unclip and fall off.

The strap itself is like a seatbelt kind of material.
