We've added a career and professional development forum as a subforum to GD.

Well there was a call for it, we're giving it a go. If it dies a death we can always merge it back to GD again.

Glad it was implemented. If even one person finds work from it or has a job issue solved it's been worth it i think.

The way I see it that carer-related posts will get fairly serious responses in the new section, which is what the thread-starters are after. GD is mainly office banter :-)

The spec-me-a-chair/desk threads vastly outnumber job posts by 50:1

I'm dismayed that cutting edge chair technology is vastly under discussed, and that the threads concerning which IKEA desk to buy (from a choice of two), are not taken seriously enough.

I think we need a sub forum sub forum where we can debate the need for various sub forums and have polls to determine whether they are justified.
