New Syndicate to be an FPS

I'm so glad this is Origin only.. then I don't have to buy this pile of steaming manure...

The console versions should have been a port of the PC version, NOT the other way around.

so is this a massive failure then?

Does seem to be pointing towards this one being a bit of a turkey doesn't it?

Can't say I'm overly surprised, the demo on the PS3 didn't really do a lot for me, glad I'm not one of them who pre ordered, FOV and gun look a little odd and does look a tad over exposed in places...

Such a shame, best to leave this at Syndicate Wars IMO

I've been playing this even though I hate them for ruining this classic by making it a FPS.

GOOD
Nice graphics
Well polished
Fun to play through once

BAD
Massively linear
Majority of story told through giant walls of text
Get sick of spamming 'F'

I think Deus Ex had a whole lot more to offer long term, once I've completed this it'll probably go unplayed however it has been quite fun to play through and I love the Suicide, Backfire & Pursuade abilities idea. Upgrading is absolute **** compared to the original Syndicate games though.

Looks like there will be no tweeking of the FoV for the near future. A developer has stated it would require a recode of the engine as it gets reset and changed every frame. Additionally any patches for the game are under EA's control, and any requests would have to come through them.

Don't know why you're all moaning, the vids I've seen on youtube make it look like a Deus Ex rip off. Can't exactly be a bad thing can it?

Simply put, it's worse than Duke Nukem!

A completely unstructured tiny storyline, weapon aiming and character movement which make me believe your character is in a permanent state of a hangover, and completely unessasary features.

Having to continually hit 'F' to open a door which has absoloutly no baring on the game or story (ie, you just need to open it, theres no hurry, the ceiling isnt collapsing, no one is shooting at you, but you still have to sit there tapping away at F to open it!)

You dont see/feel the perks you earn through the game make ANY difference. (and WHY when i kill a guy who has great shielding tech, and steal his chip, do i not get his tech? WHY does it instead just allow me to arbitrarily improve one of my own upgrades?!?

All the darkness and grim reality of the original syndicate games is lost. Theres no feeling that you are just a purpose built killer, instead you have to have 'feelings' and be 'different'. I still remember the visceral intro the the oringinal syndicate where the bloke on the device just gets his leg ripped off and replaced with a mechanical upgrade in a dark facility. There is NONE of that feeling here, it's all nice and clean environments, future tech that instead pulse bright lights at you. etc etc

This game is nothing but a MASSIVE disapointment and its only redeeming feature is the use of good actors for the central roles and actually making the characters look like the real life actors do.

Never base games, films etc. on just trailers........

- BF 3, looked immense and the best game EVER from the trailers alone, however, that is not the case, yes it is a good game and one of the best war/FPS out there, however, they forgot to show all the camping noob snipers that use MAV glitch to get to inaccessible areas, RPG/M320/grenade spam, no teamwork, get a ton of assault and support people running past you that don't bother to drop ammo/medic pack or reviving you and not to mention all the cheaters, which completely ruins the game. Very rare that you get a good round with teamwork.

Same for syndicate, I was expecting a damn good game from all the trailers, but nope it is really pure xxxx for the reasons stated before, I could probably complete the game if the movement/aiming wasn't so clunky with that console feel.

installed this last night, adjusted the settings (the ones that you can) played for about 5 min before I had to turn it off.

reloaded today, didn't save the settings and now crashes with a memory error straight after the first loading screen finishes. For the few mins I did play I was extremely ****ed off with the fact that they haven't even removed the crappy console controller settings and button presses. Press Y in menu to set to default!? what's the bloody Y button on a keyboard? Found that F was X but it's just annoying. :(

great, the last 2 games i've purchased was darkness 2 and syndicate. both with tiny FOV making it unable to play :/

Both games using large gun/arm models and tiny fov to maximise fps on consoles. my 2012 gaming experience has been slashed & gutted.

I am strongly considering never buying a gam through Origin.
Thus far I have not purchased any of their products.
Of course I have some Origin capable games, but mainly bought on Steam back in the days when you had a choice.

Virtually all Origin only titles appear to have major issues, bad endings, short campaigns. We shall see what the future brings, but thus far, bandwagon aside, there is nothing compelling.
