Specs:

CPU: Intel i7 950
MOBO: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R rev 2.0
RAM: 6GB Geil Black Dragon
PSU: Cooler Master GX 750W
GPU: MSi 9500GT

I have built multiple Nahelem systems and this built went flawlessly, yet for some reason it isn't posting. The motherboard speaker is reporting a 'power error'. We tested the PSU with another computer and it worked fine. We rang overclockers who suggested it might be a motherboard issue, so sent it back to be tested. They reported that it was in fine working condition. We have just finished rebuilding the system (again a flawless build) and it is still reporting a power error. We are at a loss over what to do next. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks for your help! :D

Its ram voltages or cpu voltages, or something voltages probably. if you built it yourself then you are competent enough to connect every power connector. But did you set the voltages manually in BIOS ?

Give your ram 1.55v (.5 above std but will ensure a boot) give your cpu 1.28-1.32v that should ensure a boot, that should be enough to sort you. Dont power up with any more accessories but your hard drive and Gpu and keyboard... if your worried about changing BIOS settings then post pics of the screen for us to consume.

Having plugged in devices to a minimum narrows the scope of troubleshooting

Check the memory are in the correct slots, usually 2nd, 4th and sixth from the CPU.

Tried a CMOS reset.

As said above, it sounds like a memory problem. Maybe the motherboard isn't supplying enough voltage. Try booting with only a single stick of ram installed. If that works, you can access the bios and set the voltage to your mem's specification.

+1 to accod's suggestion, the logic is 1 stick can draw less power than 3 simultaneously, the perfect way to get in and get what you need done.
