Hi Everyone,

I've currently got...

1x i7 - 6700K
1x ASUS Z170 Deluxe Motherboard
2x 8 GB DDR4 2133 CL14 Memory
1x 1080 FTW3 11GB
1x Samsung Evo 500GB
1x 2 TB Mechanical
1x Corsair HX100i PSU
This is all on a custom EK water cooled loop in a Fractal Define R5 (I think).

I'd like to get a slightly smaller case and I'm also wanting to upgrade the CPU to an i7 8700K (as I think this will be a worthy upgrade). I want to upgrade my mainboard as I don't like it, there are various bugs with the software and if I got a smaller case I'd need to replace it anyway.

I use it for work, I'm a developer but also it is built for Gaming.

Has anyone got any recommendations on any smaller cases that I could still perhaps get a loop into (although I don't mind ditching the water cooling). It doesn't need to be tiny, just comfortably smaller than where I am with the R5 I'm not fussed for upgrading the GFX right now if anything perhaps another 1080 in SLI.

Might be worth waiting a few more weeks and seeing what the new 9-series cpu (i7 9700k at least) and z390 boards offer before buying an i7 8700k....
 
I agree with the above.

While i cant say whether the upgrade to an 8700k will dissapoint you or not, with the 9 series expected in october with z390 boards it would be worth waiting if you can.

You might find that a lower tier 9 series matches the 8700k for performance at a lower or the same price point, we just dont know yet.

Also 8700k prices arent great right now so waiting might also see them come down a bit if you do decide on the 8700k.

That being said, supply on the 9 series CPUs is expected to be low which is likely to push their prices high at least for a few months just like the 8700k launch.

But this is all speculation.
