Hi Guys

I've been away from PC Gaming for almost 10 years and I've decided to get back into it (too much spare time on my hands). I've got the guts of a system that I'm ready to purchase, but I wanted someone to confirm that I'm not missing something and all the parts will work together.

Also if you have any better replacement parts and have a reason for this I'm all ears. I've had my finger off the pulse for quite some time so I don't have all the inside info.

Sorry - tried to post image link and it just didn't like it

Also in need of a decent monitor and no idea what to go for - looking to spend about 150 on it - probably 23/24 inch.

System will be used predominately for gaming as I have HTPC for movies and storage. All comments and suggestions greatfully received

Thanks a lot

Hi and welcome.

I dont like the spec to be honest.

A little missed matched, OTT PSU, poor SSD choice, a 2500K is as fast in games as a 2600K.

Z68 board instead of a newer Z77 etc etc.

thanks Stulid

What is wrong with the SSD? What size of PSU should I go for 850W? (I'm was just trying to futureproof it a bit)

Please feel free to recommend other parts - this is what I'm looking for
Thanks

Do you have a SATA DVD+HDD drive?

Also get a aftermarket heatsink to overclock the CPU higher.

Thanks Stulid - I'm so out of touch I don't know what provides best bang for buck. Over the moon at the price fo the GTX 570 though.

I've got a SATA DVD drive kicking around that I can install the OS with. I won't need extra storage with HDD I don't think. Just installing OS and games on machine.

I had looked at aftermarket heatsinks already (can't believe the size of standard heatsinks these days - huge). Can you recommend something? Guessing the multiplier on the i5 chip is unlocked?

(Apologies for 20 questions)

stulid - thanks a million for your advice
Think I'll purchase the items above today/tomorrow and build the rig at wknd.
