So i made a huge mistake by selling my gaming rig and buying an Apple Macbook (don't laugh!) and now I'm after a new system.

Are we due any big changes in the cpu/mobo world?

My previous system had an MSI Mpower Z77 and i7 3770k and SLI Titans.

I don't have a budget for any of the parts as what i sell my Macbook for, ill use to pay for the system!

Now I'm not sure if i should go down the 1150/Z87 route or the 2011/x79.

Ill be buying the new BenQ 27" monitor when its released so want the best power available.

Now onto GPU's, Ill most likely be buying either 2 780ti's or again buy 2 Titans as the performance was excellent.

Not a fan of ATI, I did have a 7970 before i moved over to Nvidia and have preferred them ever since.

Everything else i am set on, its just the main board and chip i can't decide on!

Any thoughts?

Im leaning towards X79 and 2011.

I don't think theres going to be a massive difference between them all tbh.

Ive had 1150/1155/56/775 so now its time to try 2011!

Damn that does look good!

Ive had the 800D, 750D, i think the 900D it just too big, 540 and the 760T are good suggestions.

Whats the 540 like for cable management? Im most likely going to go SLI so will it be a tight fit for say 2 780ti's?

Whats the UD4 like that you specced Doom? Good for gaming or is there better boards available? again budget is no issue :)

Like the Primo then? :)

Itd be a shame to build in one and not have it Watercooled.. :)

I do like it :) Ive been down the water-cooling route before and i don't think i have the patience for it again :p

Well i've heard and read really good thing about this board; this is a very in depth review: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/6079/gigabyte-z87x-ud4h-intel-z87-motherboard-review/index.html

Its a solid high-end (for mid-range money) motherboard with an epic colour scheme. :)

Thanks for the link, i think I'm set on this board now :)

From the rest of the thread it doesn't sound like budget will be an issue and I also prefer Nvidia. However, if you find that your budget is a little tight, 2x R9 290/290x will give you much better price to performance.

EDIT: Although 770 SLI performs only a little worse than 290/290x crossfire so that's even better price to performance. In conclusion, ignore everything I said.

Ive decided I'm going to get 2 780ti's ;) :)

no thoughts to watercool in the future?

I've made that mistake recently cramming all my kit into a phenom m only to want a 360 + 240 rad. Might be worth having the space on hand in 'case' you want to watercool later on

*and yes I'm getting my coat as we speak

You're not making my decisions any easier :p I've been down the water Cooling route before and don't have the patience for it again!
