Hi all

Finally get my annual bonus tomorrow:D

I already have a Gigabyte GTX660 gfx card.

I have selected the following, which comes to around £550 inc delivery.

Any thoughts on whether this system should perform quite nicely?

And does anyone know if Saturday delivery costs more? TIA

1x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor
1x ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
1x Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (CMY8GX3M2A1600C9B)
1x Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK)
1x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
1x BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Case - Black
1x Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp - OEM
1x Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2)
1x OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
2x Akasa SATA-III 50cm Rounded DAYGLO Blue Data Cable (Right-Angle Connectors) (AK-CBSA01-05BV)
1x Thermalright Chill Factor 3 Tube (4g) Thermal Paste

I'd up the PSU, something with true 550W power.

And also the cooler. I'd get a Nero3 / True Spirit 120, Matterhorn Pure depending on budget.

Also, I'd get some high performance, low profile memory.

Maybe drop the Xonar till later to fit all that in budget.

Dunno about the motherboard. Looks light on overclocking power. I'd probably pick a 990FXA-UD3 out of the bunch.

And drop the extraneous things, like the SATA cable and the paste. Although good, it's an extra £10 that isn't critical.

i have the same chip and it's been fine for me, runs all my games very nicely indeed.
i'd say maybe get a 650w psu and i'd 100% say get a better heatsink as i can almost guarantee that will not keep it cool when playing games. not sure what i'd recommend as i've only used the corsair h80i with it and i've never seen it go above 60degrees

perhaps a different motherboard but i'm sure that'll be fine if it's all your budget will allow.

I think that is an issue with most AMD chips.

Go for Haswell, you will most certainly not be disappointed.
