Hi Guys,

I have recently set up my system and just wanted to share my specs and benchmarks to gain further knowledge on weather my system is performing as it should.

Specs:

System - Everyday Settings
CPU: Q9550 @ 3.5MHz
GFX: 1x SLI 896MB XFX GTX260 XT, Mem 1000 MHz, GPU 621 MHz, Shader 1350 Mhz
GFX: 1x SLI 896MB XFX GTX260 XT, Mem 1000 MHz, GPU 621 MHz, Shader 1350 Mhz
RAM: 4GB (4x1GB) Corsair TwinX DDR3 XMS3 Dominator,
MB: Evga 790i *** Motherboard
PSU: Tagan TG1100-BZ 1100W SLI Crossfire Modular PSU Power Supply
OS: Windows Vista Basic 32bit
Watercooling Alphacool Custom Watercooling
Storage 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ - 750 Gb Seagate Barracuda
SoundCard Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional

WATERCOOLING TEMPS - IDLE LOAD

CPU 58.C
GPU 40.C

I am looking for help with pushing the CPU to 4.ghz.

I'm using Evga Precision but seem to get stuck on Core 690mhz - Shader 1490mhz - Mem 1080mhz, the graphics start to go all funny and resembles a bad driver problem. Does this mean I have reached my limit for my cards?

I am also unsure if I am reaching a decent framerate for my spec system, as a few newer games struggle in places on the max settings.

3DMark06 18100 (Default Settings)
3DMarkVantage 16131 (Default Settings)
Far Cry 2 Average FPS - 55 (1600x1200 - DX10 - AA x8 - Ultra High)
Crysis 1.2 patch Average FPS - 44 (1600x1200 - DX10 - AA x4 - Ultra High)

Any advice, tips and help would be greatly appreciated :)

Oh! So i guess I should reset back to stock settings. What BIOS settings do you require? I will have to take a screenshot this evening.

I must admit I thought they were rather high, but even when under load it does not pass 65.C I am not quite sure how to rectify this, and not sure what temps to be expecting.
 
TEMPS TO HIGH

See spec. with the setup shown temps don't go past 40-42c average all on water so you are high should look at the seating of the chip to start with

Temps are pretty high, check the seating of the waterblock, and also what sort of voltage are you using for 3.5ghz? the spec in my sig idles at 31-31-28-28, prime load temps of 54-50-46-46 on air cooling.

I have done some more testing and here are my correct temps.

IDLE : CPU - 55-51-50-56 / GPU SLI - 40.

LOAD : CPU - 70-72-70-67 / GPU SLI - 55.

What does everyone think about those temps? Are they about right or are they too hot for a WC system?

can you load up cpu-z take a screenshot so folks may be able to advise you if they spot a problem with your setup?

I cant comment on WC temps but I'm sitting at 3.4ghz on air with temps in the low 30s idle raising to mid 50s on load so those temps are high in comparison.
 
1st thing would do is drop core voltage, that will bring your temps down some, those chip dont need that much volts. 1.26 here at 3.8 & hoping to bring that down lower.
sitting idle the now all cores 38-39c on air, they degrees you have for water cooling should be a lot lower than that.
 
I see no one has spotted that he has 2 meaty Gpus in SLI both in the loop, that is why his cpu idle temps are high.

As from you pic it looks like its all in the same loop to me, i might be wrong though, but if it is all in the same loop, thats why ur idle temp is high.

Thanks Rab,

I will try dropping the core volt to 1.26. Do you think because I am cooling 2x GPU the temps are higher on the CPU? I think I have pretty good cooling hardware so I dont think its that :(

I'd agree with that as my voltage is only 1.2 at 3.4ghz
