New system randomly shutsdown

:S
Go so first thing i did was to check windows update, detected 26 updates installed restarted, and the f*$@ing screen goes blank. Boot to safe mode, uninstall the updates that i just did and it seems to be fine again now.

FUUUUUUUU

Were they crytical updates or optional too?

If optional were included - you will have to do these incrementally.

On the plus side -it looks like you've found the cause of all your problems.

Im loosing faith.

Updates were critical, i go back to do one update at a time. Install the first one, and the screen goes blank. Ok i think thats the dodgy one, tired to delete it in safe mode and it wouldnt let me. Went to system restore, reverted back to the one before the install and still the screen goes blank.

I have no idea what direction to go in now.

Did you try a different SATA port and/or cable with the SSD?

Also is the firmware for the SSD upto date?

If you've tried the above i would stick in a bog standard HDD and see if that works - and if it does at least you've isolated the problem to the SSD (either a conflict/cpmpatibility or fault.).

Could you bullet point everything you've tried so far?

We may have overlooked something - but reading through it's looking unlikely as you've tried/tested most things.

The only other major thing you haven't tried is a skeletin setup outside of the case - and shorting the header pins with a screwdriver to start it up so we can rule out shorting/case.

Tested connections
Memtest
Different PSU
Different Moniter
Different SATA/HDMI cables
Different SATA slots
Conventional HDD
Different amounts of ram
Different outputs on the onboard vga
Different outputs on the dedicated gpu
Update SSD and mobo firmware

Think thats about it. Just doing one more install of windows using SATA 3GBps not 6 (takes quite a bit longer actually). Shall report back with findings....

OK, will await your findings - but if it fails my last throw of the dice would be a skeleton setup outside of the case.

Best of luck with the SATA 3GBps!

Ok, out of box. Been stable for 15mins now, though i havnt installed any drivers or done anything with it that usually messes things up.

What would you suggest i install/do in first? currently just on onboard gpu got both sticks of ram in.

i would limit your downloads, for now, to the latest MB drivers (only those that are needed - no monitoring software) and then the latest gfx drivers (i would d/l CPU-z, core temp and prime 95 - but after the mb and gfx updates)

I would then watch the stability for while...

I would then list the critical updates on paper and intsall them incremetally in order of importance - unti it buckles... (if it buckles).

No I'm afraid not.

Had it running for 20mins. Decided to try restarting it a few times and it all went well. Did 4 restarts (so quick, loving the ssd if only it all worked), all still fine. Decided I would go for Intels site for onboard drivers this time, instead of Gigabytes. Download install, restart, crash, died*, burnt in hell*.
Booted to safe mode, unistalled onboard vga drivers, restart and all is fine again.

So it seams like the gpu drivers might be my problem for some reason. Plugged in dedicated gpu, managed to get CCC installed, restarted and this is then what happens:

Just seems like the thing is allergic to drivers.

I'm fast running out of ideas...

Did you make sure that the 'Onboard VGA' in the BIOS was NOT set to 'Always Enable'?

Also i would make sure 'Quick Boot' is disabled, for now, and also set the 'Delay For HDD' to 15 seconds.

Additional: How long have you had the MB?

I notice you have K series chip with a H67 MB - if you do have to rma the MB (looking increasingly possible) i would swap it for the P67 chipset. You can get a
p67A-c45 for ~£89.

Ok, tried those ideas quickly and still nothing.

Im using the H67 because there are no P67 M-ITX, and i need M-ITX for the case. i got the 2500k on special offer through OCUK as it was cheaper than the non-k version.
MB is brand new.

Well from all your testing and info - it would seem your MB needs to be rma'ed.

There's obviously a slim chance that it's the CPU - but the MB seems the most likely candidate.
