Hi all, would like some advice on a new build, want to get the Intel q6600 go cpu and would prefer a Nvidia chipset motherboard and i like Abit but if there is better would go for that, would want a better cooler as i would like to get 3gigs on air if this is possible, any advice gratefully received.

Bye,

Ian..

Hey there, you might want to give more information about what you require, and what your budget is. For example do you intend to use it as a media pc, or for gaming, or for general use (websurfing/word processing) etc.

Motherboard wise, if you've only eyes for Abit boards then the IP35 is a definate winner, or if you are desperate for an nvidia chipset then Abit do the IN9 based on the nforce 680 chipset, but its very expensive, or there is the cheaper FP-IN9 based on the nforce 650, but the Abit with the Intel P35 chipset will outperform the nforce 650. Whats your budget and requirements and I can look at specing something up

Thanks for the replys, i will be using it for games sorry for not giving much detail, i have always used Amd cpu`s and Nvidia chipset motherboards but am now going with the Intel cpu, i would like the best i can get at the moment for that cpu so if its a Intel chipset motherboard or another make i dont mind, i would like to overclock the cpu on air to 3 gigs if thats possible, i would like to use my existing case a large Lian Li but will need a new psu, have got monitor, keyboard mouse and speakers. My budget is up to £1,000, will also need graphics card. If you need any more info please ask.

Bye,

Ian...

You could try this as a basis, its under budget so you can dress it up a little where you feel you need

It should do 3Ghz on air, just make sure there is decent enough airflow in your csae (Its a Lian Li so it should be ok), but if in doubt your budget is enough to include a new case too
