New TF2 weapons

Unless I'm being very blind and/or dense, it doesn't say on that link what the new weapons will be, and I'm far too lazy to google it.

Fixey the linkey please?

They aren't actual new weapons, its just new models. People are free to create their own models, submit them to Valve, and then Valve add them to the game, and they can be found through the random drop system, just like everything else.

The pyro's new hat is funny as hell, quite like the hound dog too. Ive only managed to get a few hats thus far.

Engies update cant be far off now

Couple of my friends leave this idling every night for about 12 hours just to get items for crafting hats. Don't see the point!

All I do is play for a few hours every time they have a class update, get the new weapons and then I'm done.

Can't wait to see what they come up with for engineer, hoping for a backpack for turret/structure relocation.

Links to all the details for the 3 new weapons, 8 new hats and the medics misc (its a hat but not a hat) mask. http://www.tf2wiki.net/wiki/March_18,_2010_Patch

I havent played it for that long but it's been months now and I havent got one either :(

Same here, I got all happy when I got the camera beard but it turns out since the demo/soldier patch (when i got it) it has got the same drop chance as a weapon :(

Its something like 20% chance per hour of a drop and a 3% chance of that drop then being a hat.

I think this community items idea is a stroke of genius. Valve seem to be the only company that still supports mods, and community made items. I know there are others, but think about some of the most recent releases like AVP where we have to pay £4.99 for 4 maps.

Five years ago those maps would have been made using the tools the devs used and by the community for free. But it seems to me most companies are now not releasing sdk's with their games and instead are creating the same items the community would have built but they are charging.

Simple concept, consumers have been creating there own content for years after a product was release. Publishers have noticed this and now get the dev's to create the extra content instead of creating an SDK and then sell it on for money. Kill off the free supply and demand is still around and will be willing to pay. Good for the product's revenue yes but good in the long term and good for the consumer is another question.

Woah, strike what I said, these weapons are indeed unique, not just reskins. Damn, that's got to have caused some headaches to balance, but that's a sign of Valve's dedication :3

I think the amount of effort they put into class updates shows their dedication, if nothing else
