hello, I have a zotac gtx 275 896mb "normal" edition. Originally when I customized my pc online I ordered S&S (safe and stable) Over clocking 10%-20% so far Iv'e tested my i5 660 @ 3.33 ghz under strain and it runs at normal speeds, also my gfx card isn't overclocked as far as I know.

I'm a little worried about doing it myself, really i'm just looking for some advise on which clocks to overclock and by how much, and if there is anything else i need to do.

here is the stats from firestorm utility.

Those settings look about right for a stock 275, different manufacturers have slightly different clock offsets anyway.

As for overclocking it, move the sliders up a few MHz each time and hit apply, and basically keep on going until you get the balance just right. You might want to use Nvidia's ntune program to up your clocks, as then you can stability test the clocks. Once you think you have found a good clock range, go test it in one of your favourite games. Depending on how much you have increased the clocks by, you should see a slight increase in frames.

Be careful not to push the card too far, as that can cause stability issues in your system. Im not sure if Nvidia have an 'auot tune' option like ATi's CCC does, but it basically evaluates your whole system, and overclocks your card to what it thinks it best (and normally stable too)

hi, thanks for the reply, I tried using Ntune but it just gave me a BSOD cannot find ntune for windows 7 64 bit.

Sorry to sound newbish but how can I tell if the card is ok or the balance is good? Also which clocks should I move? ty :)

nTune is rubbish any how.

Usually people use something like furmark, ATI Tool (works with nVidia cards - not to be confused with ATI Tray Tools) then increase the MHz in steps of say 5MHz til you see artifacts and then back down a few MHz til they go away.

I can't get ATI tools for windows 7 working, but I have furmark now for stabilty tests so I'll just use Firestorm for the overclock , just one last question - Should I only overclock the engine/core clock and memory clock? and leave the shader clock alone or should I do all 3?

cheers for the help

you can do all 3 but i am not sure too what level as i don't have a 275.watch the temp aswell as it will creep up when over clocking

i have the Zotac amp edition my stock clocks are.

Core Clock: 702MHz
Memory Clock: 2520MHz
Shader Clock: 1512MHz

as people have said just move little bits at a time and test.
