New to PS3 - What should I buy?

Little brother is having a PS3 for his birthday (Result!). Now I've been off the sony scene for a while after converting to an Xbox a couple of years ago.

What am I missing out on? What mush have games are ther out, and what should I be waiting for?

I like the look of assasins creed (purely from the adverts), my brother will be buying the batman game which I'm looking for ward to playing.

Little Big Planet
Killzone 2
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (2 is out October)

Woah, not played a metal gear solid game since the Playstation 1! Please tell me is of the same mould?!

I will check up on the other games...

Right guys thanks for all the suggestions I will be looking into them.

Just got back and managed to get him the 120gb slim with the new batman game that he really wanted for £270.

I picked up Uncharted for £14 too. Uncharted 2 looks pretty decent so I didnt really want to spend full whack on a game if I'm buying that too soon.

He's getting Fifa when it comes out this week.

My couple of weeks off work just got a little less boring
