Note the 'just went too far'. Obviously it's staged but previously there were elements of surprise and genuine laughter now the predictability has gone through the roof. The antics are almost cringe worthy.

As I've said before, I keep watching it and expecting it to be good and I leave the hour deflated and often bored. Odd good section, for they can still make some fabulous stuff (Senna bit, Aston Vantage V12 with Eno soundtrack etc) but mostly it's childish piddle that is very tiresome.

Then just watch what are, in my opinion, boring Autocar reviews on youtube then?

What are people, who keep saying they don't like it expect, a comedy or a car documentary?

I've always enjoyed episodes of top gear. Sure some are worst then others but not all funny parts are staged...eg, when May slipped going up the plank of wood in the Bolivia special. :D :D :D :p

I've seen this over and over again and it implies there is either Top Gear or a program full of detailed road tests, NOTHING in between or better, it's one or the other. It can't be all things to all men, I simply find it silly most of the time like most of my friends, yet we all still watch it as it's pretty much all there is and its ALWAYS better than 75% of the other crap on our TV's these days and at least we have no bloody adverts, which to me have made commercial TV virtually unwatchable these days.

It's an entertaining program about some automobile related stuff with silly challenges.

Of course its scripted, they don't try and prove its not scripted, but it doesn't mean it's not funny :)

Now STFU with this argument, it got boring about 2 years ago -.-

I couldn't care less about car reviews, except the expensive or rare stuff I will never be able to drive., I'm not looking to upgrade my car every week. Car reviews are generally boring and totally pointless. ala fith gear.

Everythings scripted these days and that doesn't bother me, I also feel that a lot of the in jokes are not scripted, it is just like real life or these forums, in jokes are repeated often and found funny and that's just the way the three act.

Anyway looking forewarned to the atom, is there any more specials this series the road tours are by far my favourite, north pole, South America, Africa, Vietnam.

Top Gear is fine as it is, there are some episodes I didn't particularly enjoy ( challenges that simply didn't interest me, like the elec car one) but 95% of the eps are great and provide many laughs...

Haha I'm the opposite, I want reviews about cars I'll actually be able to buy some day or now :), not that I don't enjoy them messing around in lambo's, but I enjoy reviews like the Fiesta one or Twingo one from the past. The specials are awesome though.

Thanks for the heads up anyhow, will be tuning in to BBC2 at 9pm my time :D.

If you like it, watch it and enjoy it.

If you know you've come online and moaned about how boring and samey and scripted and unfunny it has become for the last two dozen episodes, here's a thought - don't watch it any more. It's not rocket surgery.

Theres a good thing available now Housey, called a 'PVR', Sky make one called 'Sky+' - I haven't watched adverts for years, unless it's half time in a football match or something. ;)
