I've always used a bit of white Cif on a damp cloth, to clean white trainers when grubby. Has always come up new, never had a problem.

Yeah, I'd do that straight away on leather or synthetic, but this is like cotton?

Stick them in a pillow case and then bung them in the washer, not too hot though
