Can anyone please recommend me the best make of tyres for a 1.6 Focus as I need to replace the fronts (and suggest good places to get done in or around Basingstoke).

Many thanks.

Linglong supersavers are the best VFM on 1.6 Focus' i hear.

Kwik fit will have them, i think they are about £15 each?

I think Autocar did a test a few weeks ago about cheap tyres. They tried 5 different brands on a Golf and round a track the difference between the cheapest and the best (Conti's I think?) was about 8 seconds on a 1min 30sec track.

Certainly gonna make me purchase some good tyres when I need them, before now I've always gone for the cheapest I can find.

:D

My mum tragically took her 1.4 Megane into kwik-fit while I was away and charged her £170 for 2 new unknown branded tyres. :(

The firestone firehawks that the car would have been originally sold with seem to be ok. My dads focus is 8 years old and still on its 1st set of rears and 2nd set of fronts! Mind you he's only done 35k in it!

If it's the 15" 195/55 or 195/60, consider the Avon ZV3s. They won't last quite as long as some, however have good grip at a fair price. I've had two sets now.

P6000s (aka ditch finders) and ZV3s are awful. I've run them both and they are v.dodgy in the wet and don't offer great great performance in the dry. either.

I can recommend Uniroyal Rainsport2 and also Eagle F1 GSD3's :) I got quoted £85 inc. VAT for the F1's including fitting, balancing etc etc (205/50/R16) so try for that sort of price :)

I'll recommend my usual, Vredestein Sportrac 3s around £60 each (205/55/16) they are brilliant on the mondeo with plenty of grip, wet and dry.

its only a focus 1.6, i ran hankooks on mine and they were fine, unless your going to be using the public roads as a closed off race track just get some cheapies.

I like the p6000, there hardly ditchfinders at £70 each. I’ve seen many good reviews on tyre sites suggesting they are good, they last well too. This is the first time I’ve heard negative comments against them.

Personally I've had difficulty finding any other tyres that usually get recommended on here (Goodyear F1, Eagle F1s, Toyo T1-R) in the size I need 15" 195/60 I think
