Hi there,

I'm looking at buying a new TV. My budget is £550 and I'd like 48"+.

I've always heard good things about Samsung (I have a 7 year LCD Samsung still going strong) so was looking at the UE48H6400.

Is there anything else worth considering at this price?

To be honest, smart TV isn't THAT important as my PS4 can handle most of that. 3d would be nice but not a necessity. There is a good chance I won't be watching live TV but I'm undecided. It will mostly be for Netflix and gaming on my PS4.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Would recommend the J series instead of the H series, I looked at the H series in Curries for over an hour, screen angles, contrast and black levels and the J series looked better imo.

If your laying down 500+ then its worth checking it out in person imo, john lewis and currys should have these models. The J series is more expensive sadly but the improvements will be worth it, richer sounds 6 years warranty but imo john lewis overall better customer service with there free collection service and no quibble return if you don't like it + 5 year warranty on all tvs can't be beat really and they price match richer sounds and others stores.

check here with some other similar stuff its 40" but same general info is useful

J Series is more exspensive and you only get 40" for the same price as the 48" H6400 the j series is 4k which is pretty pointless at the minute as the content for 4k won't be around for a while

I agree 4K is pointless till xmas time when we can see what how well bluray dvds do.... but there is a clear night and day picture quality between the H and J series....

Yup the Samsung UE48JU6400 is £800 and way out of budget but just like with anything check rainforest, ebay I just checked it on pricespy and found it for £632.

Check on ebay also sometimes companies do recon units for £400-500....

Anyhow its up to tp, budget is important as always:)

So I've been given permission to up my budget by £100 :p.

Should I go for this over the sammy?

Also, is there a problem mounting this to standard brackets? There seems to be mixed opinions on this.

Double edit :

This looks like it should fix the mounting issue:

I want to use a stand with one of the mounts on the back (got a new born coming, I don't want it falling over on them if they get too close).
