We're after a new TV for the lounge - ideally 70" ish

We currently have an LG 55NANO866NA, and it's paired up to an LG SN11 7.1.4 soundbar. As well as being used for Movies, It's also used for X Box Series X and Nintendo Switch gaming.

We've got a TCL 55C815K QLED in another room, and honestly I think the picture is better than the LG. Its certainly better on dark scenes from a lighting zone perspective.

Budget for the new TV..... Ideally £1500 ish or less.

A friend has a ~2 year old top of the range Sony OLED which blew my mind at how incredible the image was, but one thing that concerns me with OLED is screen burn. We have two children and it's not uncommon for the TV to be left on pause for long periods.

I'm quite tempted therefore to get something like the new TCL 75C845k. I assume this would be a decent step up from my current LG set?

Happy to hear other suggestions too :)

I would take a look at:

LG OLED evo C3 65 inch 4K Smart TV 2023 £1599 from LG

There's a list of TV manufacturer websites here to help with your research.

I was concerned about the risk of burn in when considering an OLED, but having read up and watched a number of reviews, I was happy to buy my LG C3. There's a number of features to reduce the risk of damage, and I've not seen anything negative in this regard. I'm very pleased with mine.

My LG C3 has more than enough features to prevent screen burn for it not be a problem, even works when the misses has 8 hours of the Simpsons running as background tv

Yeah LG C3 owner here. The features it has are quite good at looking after itself. As mentioned already, but for example, if I pause Netflix after a few moments the little firework screensaver comes on automatically. If you mute the TV, the mute icon floats around. I don't mind pausing TV but I still try and limit how long it is paused for. It runs the cleaning cycles as well after a set amount of viewing time - 4hrs accumulation I think. So when you turn the TV off via the remote, it'll then do the cycle so as not to interrupt you. I then leave it for about 15-20 minutes before knocking off at the mains (yeah I hate standby lol). LG came out top recently for how well it maintains its panel vs the likes of Sony and Samsung. I'm not sure how old your kids are but are they at the age they can be educated about OLED lol. :D

Everyone is commenting assuming you'll be using the in built apps, if not I wouldnt get an OLED if you know it will be paused for long periods.

I use a sky tv puck and the Xbox series x as the main two devices.

As for educating the kids, both have autism so it’s not a straightforward situation.

I’ll go and have a look at one of these LG panels and see what I think. Thanks folks
