New TVs - too sharp?

I'm not sure what 32" Sony you were looking at but the W8 is an amazing TV for that size, I really can't fault it.

The problem is as everyone has said, when you go into a TV store they have it set to demo mode ie stup contrast, sharpness.. some people think ooo that's nice and bright but like you and many more it make the picture look false.

Anyway, go back to the shop, ask them to put it in different "Scene" modes and you will see a massive difference.

I have 60" Pioneer Plasma TV which is reference yet last night I watched a movie on my 32" Sony W8 and it was very good! I use the TV mainly for my gaming consoles (for which its perfect) but it is such a good all-rounder I often find myself watching TV or a movie on it.

Oh come on man... 32" is like a postage stamp, I would never choose that over a 60" Panny plasma. :p

haha yeah I know :) I just installed the Netflix app on my PS4 and happened to notice a movie called "Headhunters", the book was amazing so I choose that to "test" the app, I ended up watching it all... if the OP is limited to 32" then I think the Sony would be a great choice.

Ahhh I didn't even notice he said 32".

OP, get a 46" minimum or you'll regret it! :p

50" is the minimum now for me but my next tv will need to be 60"+ to be called an upgrade, need to get more space for it though.

i may just get a projector and keep the GT50 in 5-10 years time

the best screen image was from my old Sony RPTV KDS 55A 2000, because it handled motion far better than the Panny, the RPTV in perfect working condition had no faults at all.

yes, the Panny has a better screen image, but only because it's far newer, no other reason!

the RPTVs main faults is that the bulb dimmed very quickly and didn't last long either and it also suffered from the ``Green Blob issue``, but what a huge tv, it was almost 3ft thick !!!!!

finally, the RPTV was also way better for gaming

yes, 55'' now, so my next size is 65''.....but nothing smaller, because a 50'' looks tiny nowadays

That said, I do prefer a plasma to an LED. In fact I prefer our old LCD to most LED Tvs I see.
I agree....being used to the picture quality that my Pioneer Kuro plasma produces, just about every LCD/LED panel looks like it's running a cartoon:rolleyes:

I hear that loud and clear. I have x2 a 500 and a 600. The 600 turned itself the other day. I **** bricks. If it fails and can't be repaired what the hell am I going to do.

It's the 600A that I have and I'm dreading it developing a fault yet I hope there would be some way of getting it repaired. It's such a shame Pioneer stopped making the TV's as they were amazing and far better than anything else available, even now it's better than the mojority of the stuff I see.

I think my next TV if if have to get one will be the Sony 4K but I don't want to think about that now as I'll end up buying one!
