Right,

Time for some new tyres again. I've been running Eagle F1's on and off for a few years and I like the way the car drives with them on, however they seem to last about 6 months before needing replacing.

The car is used for road and trackdays as well as the occasional long distance jaunt.

I've had Namkang NS2's on the car (rear only) previous and had good experences of them. I'm tempted as they are about 25% cheaper than the Eagles and I'm pretty sure they can't last any less time. Would I notice the difference on the road though?

Does anyone have any personal reccomendations and finally does anyone know what the Evo E36 ring project ran for its tyres?

Thanks!

Project E36 had Toyo R888's I think.

As for yours, stick with the Eagles. You won't get awesome grip AND long lasting tyres.

Also recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 2/Exalto 2 range, think for the E36 it'll be a PS2 as the PE2 is for the smaller wheel.

Only problem is they are a fair whack more expensive than the F1s, but last longer.

MPS2 won't last longer - they have a low treadwear index (220) compared to the others mentioned in this thread already. MPSE is higher though - more or less in line with the GEF1 (around the 400 mark)

The m3 is a heavy car so a stronger tyre is a must

I used pzeros exclusively on my e36 and e46 m3s and can't recomend them enough

oh and its a performance car so you shouldn't be worrying about wear ;) Seriously tyres are the single most important part of your car and it is madness to skimp, they turn you they propel you and they stop you without them your vehical is nothing

Try having a litre bike that eats tyres in 2.5k I may ony have two wheels to shoe now but it eats them faster

i had pzero rossos on the E39 M5 and found the eagles better. also had dunlop sp9000's and these werent as good as the eagles.

put some kumhos on the rear just before i sold it and again these werent as good although they werent bad.

the differences between them wasnt massive, but equally there was a noticeable difference to me.

IIRC treadwear index on GY F1's is 280 rather than 400ish.
