New UFC Game by THQ

Eurogamer liked it, 8/10

Not that I needed a great deal of convincing tbh, the demo hit the nail on the head for me, especially the ground battles. Looking forward to delivering a LHK to the head with Cro-cop, see that head snap back, off to the morgue you go :D

Couture was in breach of contract with the UFC and subject to a lawsuit while the game was in development so was originally omitted but it has been reported that they got image rights to use him once the lawsuit was settled.

There are also rumours that he's an unlockable character.

dammit

if couture aint in it i aint playing

can anyone confirm if he is unlockable or not?

Whats up guys...
well me being from California, I got the game as soon as it released and if you like the demo, youre going to love the game!

Here are my first impressions....

The selection of fighters is good even though you have some fighters who are not in the UFC anymore like Arlovski, Ortiz, & T. Sylvia. One thing I really did NOT LIKE, is that you cant set up your dream fights.. so I was pretty pi$$ed off that I couldnt choose Anderson Silva and kick GSP's a$$!!

In career mode, you can only use a created fighter and I feel the way you increase your players' attributes and skills is a little too simple or boring?!
For example, in the FIFA games, your player can gain points by playing more and having good performances right.. well in this game, you have to "assign" training schedules once a week and the player gains a couple points in whatever area you train that week.
You can also gain skill points by inviting other training camps over, for example you can have BJ Penn and his trainer assist you in a BJJ session and it can increase your ground skills if you specialize in BJJ, or Anderson Silva train with you if you specialize in somekind of stand-up.
It takes quite a bit of work though to increase your skills and attributes if you wanna be able to compete with top-notch guys and actually have a real good chance.

The online play is REALLLLLYY LAGGY right now, so I'm going to give it a few weeks before trying to play again. It was hard to time kicks or punches because the game was trying to sync so often! But I'm sure once it gets straightened out, it'll be good. OhHH and there are also those damn "disconnectors" online when theyre losing and it doesnt give you a win or loss or anykind of DF rate!!

Yeah I heard about the DC problem on the UOC forum.
People can just disconnect and neither of you get the win or loss. Also I heard on there that you can't see their DC % before a fight. So You wouldn't know if your going to play a rage quitter anyway. is this true? If so, what the hell was THQ thinking? This happens in every bloody game out there. It certainly ****** me off in Madden.

yes it's true. I'm finding online fine. had around 30 games and only noticed lag in a few of them.

Not had chance to play online yet, and after all the reports of people just quiting when they are getting beet it doesnt seem like much point trying. I think its proberbly best to play people you actually know. at least that way they wont quite to save face.

Career mode is great though, really enjoying it so far.

What a joke :\. PRO THQ. BRAVO.

I'll be sticking to my career mode and the UOC league/ladder.

If any ocuk'ers want some good, no rage quitting games. Add my PSN: DanMc07

Out of all the 30+ games i've played i have only come up against 1 quitter so i would say it's either not that and people are going OTT or i'm just lucky.

Anyone up for a game or 2 later?

I'm up fo some fights soulja, see you in the Octagon tonight? :D Currently 12-10 in ranked, was 12-8 last night then decided to have 2 more fights and got abused like an albanin refugee! :(

I'm playing on Expert and i'm fine in the stand up, but as soon as I get taken down (especially by Mir) it's pretty much the beggining of the end for me :(
