Is anyone looking forward to it? I had a look at their web site a few days ago and they seem to have added a new kernel, replaced a few of the apps and that's about it.

I'll d/l and install it any way of course ;)

I read an article in the new Linux Format in which Slackworth was quoted as saying they won't upgrade to Gnome 3.0 in the next release because of the 'potentially alienating desktop changes', whatever that means!

I do like ubuntu but atm i am holding out for the next version of linux mint (like ubuntu but has flash and codecs etc... plus a nicer theme)

That's the beauty of choice isn't it? :)

Personally, I don't like Mint, I prefer Ubuntu but I can see why some people do like Mint. I enjoy having a little fiddle to get Ubuntu working just the way I like :)

Daft question here. If I install the RC, then just apt-get upgrade / apt-get dist-upgrade, will I end up with the same version as if I started from the final version? I'll probably just wait a day, but eventually I feel I should use the in place upgrade option.

Yes, just about. I think the only difference will be that you'll be using Grub instead of Grub 2. You'll need to do a clean install of Ubuntu to get that.
