BETA drivers released today.

I have discussed this within another thread, but I think this release is worthy of its own thread, as i know there are quite a few people with X-Fi problems who still run XP. Its been over a year since the last driver update for XP users.

Get them here:

http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=209&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=3&Product_Name=X-Fi+XtremeMusic&Product_ID=14066&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&select=0&x=25&y=15

This driver will NOT work with the X-Fi Extreme Audio.

Glad they finally fixed the Digital I/O startup problem, although I've been using the "fixdigiout.exe" fix for it since Creative were too crap to do it themselves.

Now all they need to do is fix the SPDIF output on Vista64... **** knows when they'll get round to doing that. :/

christ, they've known about those problems since 2006

i made my own regfixer use regshot to fix the i/o startup turning off, i wish nvidia owned creative sometimes, at least then we'd get perhaps too many driver releases instead of too little

These drivers cause major crackling in my music , even on a complete driver cleaner on the older drivers and it still does it...

Looks like its back to the original ones

EDIT : Damn it now it wont let me reinstall drivers , BSOD HA20X2k.SYS looks like i gotta go through my system even after drivercleaner and clean out more creative rubbish. CREATIVE I HATE YOU!

The drivers I got with my Xtreme Gamer have been fine for me so I don't think I'll bother with these. Probably do more harm than good.

Word of warning these beta drivers update the firmware on your soundcard and i believe this is what is causing the BSOD with the original drivers which i wanted to go back to.. I have no choice it seems but use the beta as its the ONLY driver that works on the system now.:mad:

First time I've heard drivers that flash the soundcards firmware.

It says it when it goes to install ( this install will now update your firmware )

And also from other sources just incase you don't believe me :D

Installed them on the 9th and haven't noticed any changes really. No more or less crackling then before. I think those betas updated the sound cards firmware, .

I installed those drivers and the install program did upgrade my firmware.
Was worth it though as all the crackling i had been getting previously stopped and the card works perfectly now.
I have the Fatality extremegamer.
