Sony say a lot of things that turn out not to be true, so forgive me for not taking their word as gospel, anyway my point was more aimed at the user who suggested a new 360 would maybe be sped up depending on how the PS3 does this year, so surely their theory works the other way round, when the 360 delivers again this year and the PS3 is still losing then surely Sony will be the first to make a move.

And the PS3 can fail.
 
The PS3 has a lot more opportunities to shine this year than the 360 does. With some major exclusives and home. Plus Blu Ray will help.

You say "when the 360 delivers again this year and the PS3 is still losing"... seems very biased imo. Sony will be making all the moves from now on. Microsoft can take it easy and churn out some more games and IPTV. They don't need to do much at the moment.

The only way the PS3 could fail is if Sony should go bancrupt. It's not going to happen.
 
How much money is Sony making these days then? And depends what you consider a failure, to me losing the marketshare to MS and Nintendo will be a failure.

360 has plenty coming this year, wait and see :) you think MS are going to sit and relax now and let Sony back into it so easily? I believe MS will strengthen their position this year, not biased at all, just what I think. We will see.
 
Guys, this thread is heading into console war territory- stay on topic!

On topic, get the 360 now, you won't miss out on anything. And if by some madness they release another hardware refresh or even an Xbox 3 tomorrow, you can always trade it in.

They've had a 2 year break with the 360 now, get working on a new shiny Xbox. :D
 
I wouldnt think you will hear much about a new Xbox till E3 2009 for a 2010 release, 5 years seems a reasonable time. Unlike the original Xbox i wouldnt think Microsoft will drop the 360 like they did that so it will be around for at least a couple years after that. So its still got a good 4 years left at least i would think, pretty sure like Sony and Nintendo they are working on there new consoles now.

Dont want it land into a console war type thing but the PS3 is not failing nor is the 360, PS3 sold more in its first year than the 360 did so neither console is doing bad, until you compare with Wii sales.
