Hi, might sound stupid, but are you running the latest version of DX?

Yep I'm running Direct X 9.0c, I tried reinstalling it last night. Direct X is behaving oddly though, last night some of the tests wouldn't run - Direct 3D struggled with artifacts and turning down Hardware acceleration seemed help towards fixing some Media Player issues. I'm starting to wonder if there is a card issue here.

Bummer, when you mentioned Media Player and Direct Draw, my first thought was DX... hope your new PSU sorts it :)

Have you tried formatting? When I first got my 6600GT I would get artifacts in certain games and not in others. Was about to send it back when I decided to reinstall windows on the off chance that it would solve my problem and for whatever reason that did the trick.

No joy - new 250w shuttle PSU is in and the same problem. Looks like a RMA I guess...

I'm sorry it's a little too late for you, but I'd have said no way was it PSU related ( obvious now I know ) I'm running a SFF with the following

XP2700+
1 gig @ 166 fsb
80 maxtor 7200
DVDR R/W
DVD ROM
several usb related devices
and a 6800Le unlocked to 16/6 running at 430/400

and that little lot is ticking over in a Soltek Qbic with a SeaSonic 100W PSU.

I appreciate that the PSU tends to be the first port of call when troubleshooting especially on gfx cards but I'd suggest removing the card and trying it in another system.

Funnily enough, I've spent the weekend burning everything on the comp to DVD and reformatting the harddrive / reinstalling XP from scratch - it's looking good! No more freezing and slowdown, I'm about to try some games / movies. It's looking very promising...!

Glad to see it's solved some of the your problems, good luck with the games.

Working like a dream - Company of Heroes is running great. Thanks for your advice, and thanks to everyone else who has helped me with this.

MY advice to anyone else who has problems with a 7600GT card - burn everything on the pc to DVD, wipe the drive and start again with a new install of Windows before RMAing the card.
