New xp?

Bit of a dilemma. If at all possible I'd wait, but Vista is very good in it's own right.

Yeah Vista's fine but the point is if he's paying out for a licence, at this stage he may as well run the stable, fast and sleek free-of-charge beta until the new OS comes out. Why pay for Vista now when its replacement is gearing up for release, when he'll end up shelling out for Win7 soon anyway (and it IS superior enough to warrant the pennies)?

Hey, I totally agree, I'm just saying he's not necessarily getting a dud deal if he chooses Vista.

I guess atleast i wont be shelling out ~£150 for an old crappy pc. My grandad is also giving me his old pc and has a legit coppy of xp. Maybe i could borrow that till i get W7?

If XP is struggling to run then I wouldn't even attempt Vista. Yes it probably is malware or some kind of virus but 5 year old specs won't run vista very well (I guess)

What Specs are the machine?

I cant remember exactly but its pentium 4 processer, about 256+128 mb of ram and no graphics card. Thanks for the help guys

You'll need a lot more memory to run Vista without it slowing down too much. At least 1GB.

Yeah. Xp it is then. Will xp run most new games? I might as well keep it for a while if i get it
