Hey,

What's all your plans for new years eve? I went to London once and stayed in the bro in laws house. I want to go it again this year but since hes now moved, want to book a hotel.

Anyone booked a hotel before at reasonable (as possible) price?

Tickets for the fire works go on sale this Friday so want to try get something booked.

You're gonna get bumped around, you'll have two drinks all night due to queuing, they'll cost £10 each, you'll end up with puke and bodily fluids all over your shoes, a cab will be a mile walk away and cost 5x the normal price and it'll be a complete waste of time.

Give or take.

4/10. Would (maybe) read again.

In all seriousness though, just go to a house party or arrange one yourself. Way cheaper than going out. If you are a club-head, then you have the rest of the year to do that. Check out Trancecoda in Birmingham :-)

Just bought a second home in a tiny village in deepest darkest north Norfolk. We're going to stay up there and go to the local pub. Fully expect to wake up in a giant wicker structure the following evening with a hangover and both legs broken, hoping for rain.

Would recommend against London unless you're desperate for the fireworks close-up. Lived here all my 31 years and I've liked going into town less and less since I was about 21. Last time I went I was blocked from walking my usual routes home, entered tube stations to be sent back out, impossible levels of crowding...

I recommend finding a high spot somewhere and watching from there - you can see loads of simultaneous fireworks displays. Telegraph Hill in southeast, Primrose Hill in North.

Ha-haaaa!

House partaaaaay with another family, who will bring their awful 7 year old round, who makes it his personal mission to empty private drawers, make a mess, argue with me, and try to cut my daughter's hair, all whilst I'm obliged to laugh along with his antics and pretend I like the obnoxious ****.

Woohoo for middle age.

Will no doubt be the standard go out for lunch with a few selected friends and family and children (same each year), see how much beer and wine I can drink before the missus gets pissy with me then go home at about 7. Put kid to bed then she'll fall asleep by 8. I'll sit on my own with a flat glass of leftover champagne for a while, wondering how the hell I got old and this became the normal and I should be out at least in the pub but I know deep down I would rather sit here in the dark, alone, on new years eve.

Unless you’re looking for a club or money is no issue avoid central and find a nice hill. Did the fireworks in central maybe 5 years ago and it was fun but looking for somewhere to go after that’s not gonna charge £20/30 entry is impossible, takes a couple hours to leave the area too unless you’re lucky (might be less now it’s ticketed).

Somewhere a bit further out with a nearby hill, or a house party is infinitely more fun and convenient. Camden is pretty decent, pop over to primrose hill around an hour before midnight (it gets pretty busy too) and enjoy the view before heading back to Camden for an expensive but not extortionate night out.

Get the kids to bed, pack the car with ski, glass of wine and then to bed around 10. Up early to enjoy cheap skiing with quiet slopes on the 1st

Working. I won't see my other half xmas eve, xmas day, boxing day, NYE or NYD.
The joys of working in the NHS. :(

New Years Eve out of the house is almost always the biggest disappointment of the year :p

I'll probably just be at home, maybe have some mates around if they're keen :p

Looking at options myself. Thinking of renting a nice house on a cliff over-looking the sea in Devon and then getting a group of friends together. Always wanted to do it, never got around to it but if you get a big team up you can get a massive and glorious pad for very little per person (in real terms).
