I am everywhere...
Soon come that time of the year where we make resolutions. Well this aint about what you resolution(s) is (or are) but more about why make them in the first place. Why wait till that time (jan 1st) to break or make new habits why dont we just do it now? and when we finally make them why do we tend to give up on it after few weeks? is this because we really dont have any intention of doing so all along subconsiously (sp?) or are we doing it because it is a trend?

As for me i dont see the need for new year's resolution - it is like doing the "in" thing. If i wanna break a habit or start a new one, i just do it regardless of what date of the year it is. :) Discuss..

edit
For example, if my new year's resolution is to quit smoking, i mean why dont i just quit now why do i have to wait till Jan 1st? as i would be doing more damage to my health and what not.

I'm going to start going to the gym again, wanted to start going again after I passed my driving test, that was back in November so I've had no excuses since then, but it's a new year and I thought it seems like the right time. Not really a resolution, something I was going to do anyway. :)

Because by setting a definitive date you procrastinate the result. Then when it comes you feel obliged to honour it until it becomes too boring/difficult. Its a way of seeing who you are but who you would like to be.

Mine is to get fit, drink less and smoke less of the good stuff ;)

I dont understand, i can easily procastinate the time again when it comes!Aint that what some of us do hence the saying Procastination is the thief of our time

  • Drink at least 2 litres of water a day.

- Stop buying pointless crap.
- Read more books.
- Exercise more regularly and be stricter with the food I eat.
- Go to bed earlier and try to always get a good nights sleep.

That sounds just like me. :p

I also need to stop being so bloody nice and grow a backbone as well.

I suppose it is just the idea of having a fresh start at the beginning of the new year. It is a bit pointless though which is probably why most peoples resolutions don't last very long :)

No-one else has any resolutions? :(
Well this thread isn't about listing your new years resolutions

One so far, only problem is I made it a month or two ago;
Do one thing each day that scares me.

Doesn't have to scare me much, the important thing is I do something that I wouldn't normally have done.

I would have loads more if it weren't for the fact I know I wouldn't keep to them - just this one though I really like and it's not that hard. I guess the fact I started it a month or so ago says a bit about my opinion on "New Year's Resolutions"

null :)

I don't understand this one. Surely eventually you will run out of things and end up playing chicken with a train or tig on a main road? Sitting here right now I can't think of something to do to scare me apart from jumping down the stairs?

Anyways, my resolution will be to lose my belly rolls :D
