New York hints/tips

I went in March, Empire State Building is ok, bit overrated and fairly expensive, don't be conned into all the different add ons.

Rockafeller Centre is good, they have the Armani shops, Gucci around etc, Central Park is awesome, especially the Zoo and Ice Skating rink.

Eating wise, I would seriously recommend somewhere called Dallas BBQ, they have the best tasting burgers I have ever had, freshly ground Sirloin Steak. I remember seeing a couple of them around New York so it must be a small chain but if you spot one I highly recommend it.

Nights out, I went to the Mercury Lounge which was great, they have live music (inc some Celebs) and it isn't a stuck up place either.

Have fun!

I'm also looking for a decent place to buy a suit (I'm a 36 inch inside leg so maybe a tailored suit and/or tall specialist) while im there.

Just walk around NYC and eventually you'll find a street with a few suit shops. I can't rememeber where we went, but it was on the way as we walked from the Staten Island ferry to Times square. The competition amongst them will keep prices down and they'll all be willing to make adjustments as required. My cousin picked up a couple of suits for $100 each (in 1999) with adjustments as he had a bodybuilders shape - narrow waist & big chest.

3 remember cars can turn right when the walk sign is on to cross the road but they have to give way to padestrians.

That confused the absolute HELL out of me and my mates when we went there, kept thinking I was being retarded when I thought it was alright to cross and a car was flying at me :p
