Hi all

My fiancée an I will be heading to New York in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any restaurant recommendations around the Lexington Avenue area (obviously we are will to travel further). Something a bit posh would be nice although not crazy expensive! We like traditional food types as well as Indian and Chinese.

Thanks for any tips!!

Me and the partner went to The View last year Valentines day, it was her 21st as well, don't think it was that bad a price. Depending on where you are it's only a couple of blocks from Lexington Avenue.

I read this recently...

'You could eat out every night of your life in New York City for the rest of your life and never eat at the same place twice.'

rubyfoos in times square if you like chinese

Been there, very average. OK for dinner with mates but hardly a romantic dining experience for two...

Bubba Gump Shrimp..

Same as above

This place is awesome, I highly recommend the tasting menu with beer pairings

Grand Central Oyster Bar - maybe not romantic, but the freshest seafood, and awesome atmosphere, a real iconic place to eat (we wen't twice!)

Burgers at Le Parker Meridian

Indian food in America is generally slightly different to UK Indian food, I prefer the latter. If you want Chinese and you're visiting, head to Chinatown. Korean BBQ is always good in Little Korea. For one of the best sandwiches you'll ever eat head to Num Pang for their steak sandwich.

Lexington is 5.5 miles long, assuming you didn't mean up in Spanish Harlem I'll throw out a suggestion of Park Avenue Spring. http://parkavenyc.com/spring/#

I'm off to New York tomorrow morning with my 'soon to be fiancée' ;) so keep the good restaurant suggestions coming!!

I'd skip my suggestion if it's 'soon to be fiancée' :D

Haha! yea I actually checked out your suggestion just now and thought 'hang on a minute!? Steak and boobies??!'

My girlfriend probably wouldn't mind to be honest lol

Perfect time to go weather wise. I went two years ago this very week. Hot but not boiling and mild in the evenings. It's way too hot later in the summer.

I went to Ruth's Chris Steak House last night, awesome food - 148 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019

Not been to that one but been to other Ruth's Chris branches

really don't like them, they cove tthe steaks in butter after cooking, who knows why

also the 500C plates thy serve them on means that your medium rare steak you ordered ends up well done by the time you are half way through, not cheap either for a chain restaurant
