Hi, I'm looking to build my own PC but have never done it before so was hoping for some advice/recommendations. I have been reading the site quite a lot recently, and have so far come up with the following as a build:

Motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-498-GI

CPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-540-IN

RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-299-CS

Graphics card: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-308-AS

Fan: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-CM

SSD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-168-SA

HD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-366-WD

The idea is to overclock it in about 18 months/two years time and get a new graphics card as and when.

I'm unsure with PSU's on this, although I know not to buy cheap. Something about 650w maybe?

Also, I'd like to put all this into a cube case. I have an old (and I mean old) tower case but I'm thinking that it'd be daft to try and fit the components into that.

I'll be using Windows 8.1 64bit and I have a monitor/keyboard/mouse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Get an external DVD drive if you'll be using it fairly frequently, as the Carbide 240 has no optical bay. Otherwise just get an internal as they are cheaper, and plug it into a SATA port when needed, or leave it connected permanently and just find room for it in the back of the cube case.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that I probably won't use an optical drive that much but seeing as they are so cheap I may as well get one.

I'll need a wifi card as well, thinking about it.

If you want to keep to a small matx then this will fit it all in - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-227-AN&groupid=2362&catid=160

Only change you need to do is go for a slim optical drive or use a USB external one.

There are plenty of small cases, go find another you like the looks of and post back.

This R9 280 comes with free games - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-347-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1842

Hi, cheers for that. Sorry for my late reply after you have been so prompt. I think I might go with your case suggestion, and cheers for the heads up on the graphics card!

I found this case that seems ok (size/expense): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-674-LL&groupid=2362&catid=2279

Although it doesn't have as many expansion slots :/
