Newbie car question

Just for reference this is my car as it sits currently.

Wouldn't exactly call it a 'silly little car' but thanks for your input.

I leave it stock tbh, it's really nice looking car - great colour choice too

CBA to read all that but a MK7 with 170BHP and 210lbft aint particularly gonna be slow.

So it should be somewhat better than your average big boy Audi A3 TDI.

But yes if a remap can net 30BHP or so for 300 quid, why not? It's the law for anything turbocharged.

I had a 1.8 20vt Golf myself, quite a bland engine but a 1.8 20vt without a remap is not normal :)

It's not gonna be particularly fast though either. Roughly same BHP as a standard diesel Focus, and significantly less torque. That was entirely my point.

Anyway, if you CBA reading the perfectly valid information put forward, then I CBA arguing with you. I stand by my point that it would be a waste of money doing anything other than a remap, and maybe OEM wheels on a 1.0T Fiesta. And in doing such mods, the insurance premium will be significantly higher than that of a boring standard diesel that would still be faster. While the cost of the mods would see him halfway towards the new car price difference between the cars, the other half could be justified by fuel savings / insurance savings / better residual value.

If the OP was starting with an ST, different story though.

Don't worry I aint arguing :)

I see your point ref Focus but one of those Fiesta's at that power level at around 1100kg max and a wider torque spread would be pretty good fun, if you're into that kind of thing! A 170BHP/210lbft Fiesta would make good pub talk with a baby 3 pot 1.0 under the bonnet! The big kid in me talking.

I guess it's just that some folks see merit in something the next person thinks is silly. Way of the world :)

Either way, the OP's car looks pretty nice and as said I think if any differences were to be made it'd be the honeycomb grill and ZS 17's but otherwise, nice motor OP!
