Newbie for Crossfire.

Hmm the Superflower PSU has 3 PCIE cables.. 2 that has one 6+2pin connectors and 1 cable that has 2 6+2pin connectors (The one that says SLI Ready one). Getting ready for work so wont have time to take a picture of them now though.

Here is what it says on Superflowers website, no picture of the "SLI Ready" cable though..

Use the one cable with two 8 pins for the first card and two cables with a single 8 pin for the second card.

They are being v stingy with the cables.

OCUK have also made a cockup with the product description. It lists 8 x 8 pin connectors.

I hated my r9 290 msi gaming crossfired. The amount of heat in the case made the top card throttle. Even with a well ventilated case. I even took the side panel off and put a large desk fan blowing air on. Still hitting 90 plus (normally 70) CS GO was jerky when Crossfire enabled.

I had cross fire 5850's and 7950's too and they were fine. I'm back on one card after returning second card. Personally I wouldn't go Crossfire 290 again.

Ok, I would've thought that it had at least two cables with two connectors on each. I use a Superflower myself fwiw.
Just use whatever you need to use tbh and don't worry about the SLI ready label :)
Thanks for your help so far and yes, not worried about it now, was just initially before posting here. =) .. I be trying pandem0nium's suggestion and go from there.

Yeah quiet stingy, although could done as the done before, from Uncle Petey experience. Used one cable with two 2+6 pin PCIe connections and saved on 1 cable.. lol ... But yeah, I be trying my old card with the single cable that has two 2+6 pins and see how it works first time, before adding the 2nd card. Want to make sure PSU is good before adding 2nd card.. if worse case, better to have just one GFX card blown then both..

Thanks, I will keep an eye on the temp for both cards and make sure I don't end up with a heater next to me instead of a PC. =) Sorry to hear about your bad experience with your crossfired R290's though. :(

Any other inputs, fell free to add. =) .. I be doing the switch over tomorrow morning/afternoon sometime so will be a bit nervous when doing it. lol

Hmmm after having run the MSI Afterburner and gone through the tabs I noticed at the first tab "General" under 'Master graphics processor selection' that my Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 is enabled together with the R9 290 card. I never thought of this before so should I disable this 4600 through Device Manager (or in BIOS?) or it wont matter in the long run ?

Ok, was a bit worried at first after trying the Official 3DMark Firestrike and only one GPU was working then I wised up and disabled the Onboard Grafic and things looked much better. :o (No clue as to why I never disabled it in the first place really)

Seem all is working as it shall and if someone could have a look at the 3DMark score and let me know if it looks ok ? Didn't take a screen shoot but the temp on the cards was GPU1 around 80C and GPU2 around 70C through the test.

I am grateful for all assistance I been given in this thread, very much appreciated !! :D
