Hi I am just stepping in to the world of overclocking so this is all new to me.

Ok Just bought this memory which has just turned up and I have just installed it.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-003-TG&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=815

Team Xtreem 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-8000C5 1000MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXDD2048M1000HC5DC)

I have gone in ot my Bios on my ASUS P5W and made these settings

4-4-4-12

memory voltage 2.15

one thing I notice in CPU-Z thou is that its saying this Ram is PC2-6400, when as you can see I bought PC2-8000C5

from looking at my results am I getting a decent overclock on this Ram ??

Sorry for being a bit thick, I have no idea what the results mean

Here are some pictures of CPU-Z

lol, yeah, very nice wallpaper, but I think you can cut it all out for these screenies, then we can actually see the settings.

Ta.

You can put it on the next highest RAM divider/multiplier and have it running at 5-5-5-15 @512mhz. It might even do it at 5-4-4-12, or even 4-4-4-12 if you're lucky.

I don't think so - I think (and I'm happy to be corrected on this) but I think that that info is in there just because by default most motherboards will try run it at 1.8V - so the SPD info and other stuff is set to reflect this. With the voltage up it should run fine... I believe.

I all ready have it at 4-4-4-12 mate but its still showing at 410mhz in CPU-Z

There is a option in my Bios which is called "DRAM Frequency" and it allows me to set it at diffrent levels

615mhz
820mhs
1023mhz
1093mhz
etc !!

Is there a certain one I should select ??

It should at 1023Mhz (which I think will be 4:5) but you'll probably want to change the timings to 5-5-5-15. I think that'll give you the best performance. If it works and is stable then try tightening the timings a bit.

EDIT: also, put that mem voltage up to 2.25V if that still gives problems.

(Hrm... that overclockers page description is confusing though... says 800Mhz 5-5-5-15, but heading says PC2-8000C5 1000MHz... )

Well guys I went in to my Bios and selected the Dram Frequnecy at 1025mhz

and I tried all the diffrent voltage options and it wouldnt boot and that was with all the timings off.

so had to go back to 820mhz to post back on here.

any ideas ?

yeah - but if the P5W is like the P5B I don't think there is an option for 2.20 straight. It says it's rated up to 2.3V though.

my voltage goes up in 5`s

2.00
2.05
2.10

etc

Do you think updating my BIOS to the latest version will help ?? as soem one built this PC for me last year and overclocked it so I am no doubt not up to date.

Or wouldnt a update make much diffrence ?

thanks for any help

Select 2.20v.

I'd only update the BIOS if you're having problems. Try 2.20v first and see if that boots.

tried that mate and it didnt boot

as mentioned I have tried all the voltages now with DRAM frequency set at 1025mhz and all the diffferent voltages and it still wont boot up

I am running out of ideas.
