To get the missus off my desktop machine, am toying with buying her a laptop for her birthday in summer.

She will use it for photoshop and other editing software, so I guess it needs to be a little beefy. However, my budget will be constrained due to looming potenital redundancy sometime, so realisticly looking at £300!

Possibly considering 2nd hand to keep costs down, but don't know where to start looking either (for legal stuff - police auctions?).

Quick browse seems to favour SSD's over super CPU/RAM sata configs...

Any help welcome.

For Photoshop it'd be worth looking at whatever gets you the highest cache size for the money, they usually come with a nice HDD and decent RAM. Clock speed doesn't tend to count for much in my experience.

If you get one <£300 with no hard drive, just look at a cheap 7200rpm drive (I assume you're using an external for storing the work itself)
