Newbie question about Gemini II CPU cooler and temps I'm getting

As title say's, Iv just fitted a Gemini II cooler to my athlon II 64 x4 635 (not OC'd) processor on a GA MA790X-UD3P motherboard, my temps are fine on idle around 16-20*C, but running prime95 it'll shoot up to high 40's, and will drop off very quickly once prime95 is turned off, does it seem ok, I'm not sure if I got good enough contact on my thermal paste because of the high temp jump on load, I have only 1 coolmaster fan attached to the cooler at the mo untill I get my 2 artic F12 pro fans I have on order to fit

Any advice whether this seems normal would be greatly appreciated, I know it's not a major rig but I like things running as best they can, thankyou

Those temps sound fine to me mate, that sink is a mediocre one from reviews i've seen of it but your temps are in no way detrimental, bear in mind i'm not an AMD man but your idle is a bit suspect imo, very low.. what are you using to read temps?

Those temperatures sound fine but I doubt they're correct unless your PC is in a pretty cold place.

Your idle temperature of 16-20°C is around ambient room temperature.

Air cooling can't cool to the ambient temperature.

Thanks mate, Yea I had a struggle with size due to my case being so small 150mm ish from CPU to case lid, and that came out the best I could fit in.

I'm using cpuid hwmonitor, it's usually quite accurate I have 4 120mm fans on the case so enough ventilation, and on stock heatsink I was seeing idle temps of 22*C on average, and 50*C load, I do notice that hwmonitor has a ment sometimes as it'll read max board temps at 119*C when in general there hovering around 30-40*C

Is there anything I can use to get proper temp readings, as obviously I can't stress test whilst in the bios, hwmonitor does read about right as I have a temp probe in the heat sink from my scythe kaze server fan controller, I know they aren't fool proof temp readings but if there both around the same Iv just assumed it was correct
